The raiders attacked again last night, in much greater numbers. It took a few hours but we managed to force them to retreat.
A few beards were injured, but not critically. They'll be back at it in no time.
It seems the raiders operate on a monthly schedule, there was another attack last night. This time we sustained no injuries, but it took all night to repel them.
I went to Anson to investigate the raiders.
A bartender told me that all of the surrounding villages have all been attacked several times since Mordred arrived on our shores.
I tried to find information on their whereabouts but didn't have any luck. They seem to visit a different village every week, with varying levels of success.
Apparently most of the other villages have negotiated tributes to avoid being outright attacked. However if they fail to pay up, they get ransacked worse than before.
Loudfoot Village is the only one to fight back with any real success.
Since Loudfoot Village is pretty well protected at this point, I've decided to visit the other villages and see if I can learn anything new.
I've visited a couple of the villages that made deals, and they aren't talking. Hopefully the ones that still resist will have useful information.
However, for the time being, I must return to Loudfoot Village. I can't risk being too far when the raiders come.
Another attack last night. I tried to tail the raiders as they finally retreated but their accursed long legs were too much to keep up with.
Of course, that is the only advantage to such height. It's better to be shorter in a fight.
I have noticed that they always seem to attack from one direction, and retreat in the opposite. It's like they're going in a circle around something.
Perhaps they have no base of operations and are merely nomads. Violent nomads.
I am visiting a village that was fighting back, but they have lost the will to hold out.
Their leader has decided to make a deal, and so he won't help me either.
They have good fortifications, but not the people to back it up. I can't say I blame them, but my pride as a dwarf wouldn't allow me to make such a deal.
This time they attacked in broad daylight. I recognized some of the non-combatants from one of the villages I visited.
It seems some of the deals the other villages made involve helping out the raiding party.
This time the raiders critically injured three beards. It took all of my magic to keep them from dying.
If only Mordred had never come. My grandfather has always told me that kings were troublesome. King Argos gave us the rights to work the land we live on but not to the land itself. My family has always resented that fact.
Crow, the regent of the King since his disappearence gave us full rights but since he isn't of royal blood not everyone recognizes it as our land yet.
I heard in Anson that Mordred will be arriving in Tenet in about two weeks. I hope that accursed crown kills him.
News has just reached us that Mordred has been crowned and Crow has disappeared.
An interesting turn of events. Depending on Mordred's attitude towards us this could be very good or very bad for us.
The same messenger also had recruitment propoganda for something called the Chain. Something about adventurers getting paid to take care of things on behalf of Mordred.
Seems like a bunch of hogwash to me.
Right on schedule, the raiders returned last night.
No injuries this time around but the battle lasted from midnight to noon. After that they gave up and retreated.
The guards hardly need me anymore.
